Surveys & Assessments

SCC are experienced in providing assessment reports for both Preservation (or Preventive Conservation), and Remedial Conservation, which are used for Museum and Library accreditation purposes as well as long and short term conservation planning.

We can recommend ways of achieving environmental stability for issues such as light, relative humidity, temperature as well as offering advice on priorities for conservation and storage solutions.

We have a wide range of conservation contacts specialising in the majority of collection material types which we can recommend; and can provide project management if necessary.

The museums and collections we have worked with on behalf of the Sussex Museums Group Project are: Colonel Stephens Railway Museum, Craft Study Centre, Storrington, Tangmere, Cuckfield, Eastbourne, London Bus Museum, Chobham, Hastings, Seaford and the Sussex Archaeology Society Rare Books Library.

Ruth has worked with Julia Foster, who developed the Preservation Assessment Survey tool for the British Library, delivering a survey and health check for Heritage Quay, University of Huddersfield.
