About Sussex Conservation ConsortiumSCC was set up by Ruth Stevens and Ian Watson in May 2013 after working together on the Sussex Museums Group Conservation Project. Ruth Stevens is fully accredited with the Institute of Conservation (Icon) and holds a Masters Degree in Book and Library Materials Conservation from West Dean College. She worked at the British Library for 7 years as a book conservator and project conservator, working with the Adopt-a-Book team, the Loans and Exhibition team, and took part in several of the Library's internal review projects including 'Decision Making for Pamphlet Material' and 'Use of Adhesives in Conservation'. Ruth has published a number of articles on conservation both in the general press, in conservation journals and online newsletters and is an experienced presenter and teacher. She works as an in-situ conservator for the National Trust and other institutions as well as spending time in the studio. Ian Watson is fully accredited with the Institute of Conservation (Icon) and holds a Masters Degree (with Distinction) in Book and Library Materials Conservation from West Dean College. He worked at Lambeth Palace Library for 5 years in the Conservation Department as their Preservation Manager where he was involved in various major changes and improvements to the care and storage of this historic library housed in Grade 1 listed buildings. Whilst Ian specialises in book conservation he also has experience in preventive conservation, library and archival storage conditions as well as disaster planning and response.
